Fairytale fights ps3 boss6/10/2023 Given the repetitious level layouts and incredibly bland combat mechanics, you'll find yourself bored to the brink of death after not too much time. Aside from a couple specific puzzle-esque segments, like one spot in a maze where you need to reorder paths to get through it, all you're doing is fighting. Copy-and-paste does not make for good game design. More impactful to the actual game design though is that you'll find sections of the levels repeated a couple times in some spots. But then the camera zooms in on a character and you get a good look at the uninspired and bland character design. The art style here is almost good, and the visuals even look somewhat impressive from time to time. Given that Fairytale Fights is a straightforward brawler by and large, the level design largely comes down to what it looks like coupled with enemy placement. Blocking doesn't work as well as it should and some enemies will kill you repeatedly (die, then spawn again and die right away). Some people will shoot you repeatedly as you attempt to move in and attack them. Aside from the actions being unrewarding, you'll find elements of the combat to be cheap and frustrating as well. But, that doesn't matter as I just wound up spinning the analog stick around whenever I was attacking and that worked perfectly fine. You use the right analog stick to attack, and pressing it in different directions will cause different actions. While all of this blood and gore is nice and actually done fairly well, that's basically all that there is to like about the game. It's all cartoon violence, roughly on the order of what you'll find in Happy Tree Friends, but there are buckets and buckets of blood spilling over the levels and plenty of woodland creatures and fairytale characters to cut in half. The selling point of the game is that it's extremely violent. Essentially, Fairytale Fights is a straight-forward beat-'em-up where you move along a very linear path and kill everything and anyone that stands in your way. The idea is that these four characters are old hat and have fallen out of fame in recent years, so you wander off to do some heroic things, like chop animals in half.Ĭlick the image to watch Fairytale Fights in action. Fairytale Fights puts you in the shoes of Little Red Riding Hood, the Naked Emperor, Snow White or Jack (of the beanstalk fame) as you work through the land of fairytales (Taleville) while trying to restore your name to fame.
