Google photos backup picasa6/13/2023 ![]() I can move the locally downloaded Phone photos to the appropriate NAS folder. This keeps the event photos all in one tidy folder (be the photos be from my slr or phone). I want to combine my SLR and Phone photos to a single folder on my NAS. I also chose to sync my \google drive\Google Photos folder on my PC so there's also a local copy on my hard drive. After which, I proceed to use Picasa to sync them to Google Photos. So, in essence, my PC is mainly used just to download the photos, rename them, put them in appropriate folders and then copy them to the NAS. Now, I'm having to deal with the main storage on the NAS in addition to the google folder on Google Photos (which is located under google drive). I have the NAS organized by /year/month/date-event name. My NAS is basically my main photo storage location. I guess I still have the locally stored data mindset. I'm aware that google backup keeps a full res backup (I chose full res) on my google drive account. By creating the folder by "\date-event name", I can explore folders easily using windows explorer and picasa. I then proceed to move the files to my NAS. So all of July's pictures are in one folder :-(! After my SD card starts to get full, I download them to my PC and proceed to sort by \year\month\date-event name. For example G:\Google Drive\Google Photos\2015\07. Google stores these under \year\month(1-12). My Android phones automatically uploads the photos to my Google Photos account. Google also has a nice feature of creating collages, animated gifs, and stories. I can share them using Google's sharing features. I can also save changes and it'll automatically sync the version to Google Photos (I think). Picasa catalogs my NAS and I directly edit those as needed. Here's my situation and issue.įor my SLR pictures, I download them to my PC, rename files by date-0001 , sort folders by date "/2015/2015.08.07 event name", move them to my NAS, and then sync them using Picasa's sync feature. I take a lot of pictures with my SLR and my Android phone. I'm not sure if I'm just handling files incorrectly, but there has to be a better way to do this. I really like Google Picasa because it's easy to use, fast and can easily upload to google Photos. I have to think I'm not the only having this problem because I take photos with my slr and phone.
